The boys Papa let me get up in his workshop and play with his wood, wood burners and paint and I've had a little fun. I can't wait to get back home and post a picture of what I've made.

UPDATE: I'm home and my camera isn't cooperating. I think it's giving up the ghost. I'll have to think of something else to show you what I've made.

Dishcloths!
Wouldn't you like to make these adorable dishcloths!
Or some groovy ones like these! I know I would. I do NOT know how to knit! Who wants to teach me and who else would like to learn? I am hoping that somebody can come through with a lovely elderly lady who can teach myself and some friends how to make these. Great for our use and also great as gifts! Homespun Hens, making homespun things for our friends and family. Now isn't that what being a farmgirl is about!?!

Next project ideas?
I'm thinking about doing another Susie homemaker project. I would really like to learn how to knit a dishcloth. I think that would be an easy enough project, and one that we can start together and finish later on.
Other ideas are:
Pincushions
Fabric lunch totes
hand embroidered towels or cloth napkins.
I bought some embroidery thread last night and I'm going to start with a napkin. I want it to say "home is where the heart is" .....it will be the napkin that goes in Scott's lunch bag and will remind him to bring it, and the lunch bag, home.
Any other ideas? Something my friends here would like to learn how to make?

Market Bags
Our project is to make Market Bags. The cashier at WalMart says that they'll stop carrying the plastic bags "soon"...Better to have these made or at least know HOW to make them, than to be empty handed and forced to buy the stores brand of bags.
Here's your supply list:
Cotton fabric of your choosing, cut into 42 by 20 inch rectangles. For each rectangle you'll need TWO rectangles cut 22 by 4 inches (these are going to be the straps).
Matching or coordinating thread for your sewing machine.
Sewing Machine
Fabric scissors
fabric pins
I'll have an ironing board/iron set up for use. I'll also provide drinks and cookies. If someone wants to bring M&M's please do! M&M's and crafting go very well together.
Have a look at this site to get an idea of what we're going to do.
Be at my house at 10:30 this Friday morning. Bring your kids and your picnic lunch. Expect to be here until just after 1pm. See you then!
Paige
p.s. first one to RSVP get something sewn by me!

Who is a Farm Girl?
Quoted from Mary Jane herself
"A farmgirl believes in the strong arms of friendship, community, and the just plain fun of being together. A farmgirl takes joy in the quiet satisfaction of making things with her own hands. A farmgirl doesn't have to live on a farm. There's a 'farmgirl at heart' in all of us!"
There is a certain something that makes a farmgirl different than the other gals. It's a willingness to work, to plan ahead, to survive against the odds. It's a desire to be outdoors, a willingness to get dirty all the while looking for a little fun. Join me as we discover what makes US farmgirls, even if we're only farmgirls at heart.
